Declaration

Definition:
A document in which an applicant for patent declares, under penalty of fine or imprisonment, or both (18 USC 1001), that (1) he or she is the original or sole inventor.

Compilation

Definition:
Compilation involves work formed through the accumulation of preexisting pieces or data, which is organized and arranged in a way that it creates a new work of authorship.

Joint work

Definition:
Two authors working on one piece with the intend that their contributions will be inseparable create joint work and are considered co-owners of the copyrighted piece.
